The following morning, after breakfast, V+K took a taxi to the airport to pick-up their previously arranged rental car. It was a Suzuki that was VERY low to the ground. Here is Virginia standing by the passenger side door. YUP they drive on the left in Barbados and this was a right-hand drive vehicle. Ken hit a few right side curbs, and the car bottomed out more than once in the huge potholes, but overall Ken didn’t do TOO bad – no collisions, even in the backwards running roundabouts (circles going clockwise) with their “give way” (yield) signs.
The rental car agency provided a fairly detailed map also but used Ken’s iPhone to download Google maps and an off-line database for the island. They suggested that was the best way to find your way around. After Ken resolved a few technical glitches in getting his phone to fully pair with the car that proved to be quite a workable solution.
